Meet the Doctor

Robert C. Huizenga, O.D. is a Doctor of Optometry with optometric licensure for the state of Michigan. He attended Calvin College for his undergraduate studies and received his Doctorate degree in optometry after four years of additional study at Illinois College of Optometry, graduating with honors in 1978. Dr. Huizenga has been practicing in Jenison, Michigan since 1978.

Dr. Huizenga is board certified in primary care optometry and in the treatment and management of ocular disease using therapeutic pharmaceutical agents. He is a member of the West Michigan Optometric Association, the Michigan Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association.

Involvements outside optometry include being an elder and past president of the Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church Council, and a  member of the Jenison Chamber of Commerce.  He has been a board member of the Unity Christian High School Education Foundation.  Dr. Huizenga also was a member of the steering committee for a Unity Christian High School capital campaign. He has also been a member of the Back to God Hour board of directors.

Dr. Huizenga lives in the Hudsonville area with his wife, Anita. They have a son, Rob, a daughter-in-law Amanda, a daughter, Annie, and son-in-law, Craig. Outside of the office, Dr. Huizenga enjoys traveling, outdoor recreation, and spending time with his family.
